Next week is conference week. If you have not returned your child's conference form, please return it this week.
Early Release will be on Thursday, October 10th. In 6th grade ELA this week, we will continue to work on typing book reports and editing them. Students will also create illustrations for 3 scenes from their book. Students will also be completing a diagnostic assessment on Quill to assess their strengths and weaknesses. Students will be reading a short personal narrative. Homework for his week: Monday - Subject/Verb Agreement; Tuesday - Word Building; Wednesday - Reading for Main Idea; Thursday - Sequencing Events; Friday - no homework. In 8th grade ELA this week, students will be working with the Greek and Latin roots - re-, ply, cedere, pro- and -ject. Our reading strategy for this week will be making connections. As students complete their reading homework, they need to practice making connections to help improve their comprehension. We will also continue to read the play the "Odyssey." Students will be identifying the events in the play that correlate with the Hero's journey. Homework this week - Monday - Up to the Mountaintop; Tuesday - Dirty Job? Oh, Yeah!; Wednesday - A letter from Antioch; Thursday - The Elephant and the Hummingbird; Friday - No homework.
