Activity: Review: Remember that subjects are nouns or pronouns that tell us who or what the sentence is about. The complete subject are all the words that are associated with the subject up to the predicate part of the sentence. The main subject is the noun or nouns the sentence is about. Predicates are verbs that tell us what the subject of the sentence did. The complete predicate are all the words that tell what, when and how the subject did the action. The main predicate is the actual verb in the complete predicate phrase. Adjectives are descriptive words that tell us which one, what kind or how many when describing nouns. The complete subject is: the little girl The main subject is: girl (the noun) The complete predicate is: ran up the hill The main predicate is ran (the verb) The adjectives in this sentence are the and little. The is an article that tells us which girl. Today, you will be working on worksheets 23A and 23B. You will be identifying verb phrases and main subjects in sentences.
