Wednesday - Climb - 6th grade House Cup, 7th Advocacy and 8th Remediation and Enrichment
6th grade - This week in ELA, we will be working on identifying prepositional phrases and writing sentences with prepositional phrases. We will work on discriminating between prepositional phrases and infinitives. Our argumentative writing this week will be on should the driving age be reduced to 15. Students will write argumentative paragraphs using the RACES strategy in response to the prompt. 8th grade - This week in ELA, we will be learning about the prefix - mis. Our reading strategy will on author's purpose and making predictions. In our Springboard books, students will answer comprehension questions about Harrison Bergeron and write an explanatory essay on Utopia and Dystopia.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Monday off.
On Wednesday, 6th grade will have advocacy, 7th remediation and 8th House Cup. Mighty Mustang Celebrations will be Friday morning at 9:30 am. 6th grade ELA will continue working on writing using the PENS and MARK strategies Tuesday - Thursday. On Friday, students will demonstrate their progress by writing argumentative paragraphs. 8th grade ELA will continue working on Utopias and Dystopias by reading Harrison Bergeron. Students will be learning new vocabulary, using direct quotation and active and passive voice. Students will write an explanatory paragraph on Friday using the RACES strategy to explain how a dystopia was created when they were trying to create a utopia. This week we will work on identifying Characters & Setting and Theme during in our reading. Homework: Tuesday: On School at a Time, Wednesday: The Blue Lagoon, Thursday: The Most Powerful Thing in the World, Friday: None. Enjoy your weekend. |
