Monday - 6th grade field trip
Friday - Mighty Mustang Celebration Friday will be a House Cup Day with concessions. Remember Spring Break is from April 1 - April 5, 2019. In ELA this week, we will work on writing an expository constructed response and an extended response to help prepare for Milestone testing. Students will also use their plot diagrams to type their book reports on the novel, Walk Two Moons. On Thursday, students will practice using the online tools available for their use on the Milestone. We will not have vocabulary terms this week.

Monday, March 25, 2019 will be the 6th grade field trip to Rock City and Ruby Falls. House Cup will be next Friday. Mighty Mustang Recognition will be on Friday, March 29, 2019. Spring Break will be April 1, 2019 to April 5, 2019. This week in ELA, we will continue working on our argument project. Students are working with a partner to choose a side on an issue, Should middle school students be allowed to use social media?, make a claim, and cite 3 reasons with evidence to support their claim. We will also be reading the article, "The Finish Line," to practice writing a constructed response and answering comprehension questions to prepare for the upcoming Milestone Test. Students will create a graphic organizer to plan their writing, write a rough draft and type their final response. On Wednesday, we will be taking our vocabulary test on the science words from last week: sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks, igneous rocks, intrusive and extrusive. Any student that would like to retake their test to improve their score can take it on Friday. Most students have completed their plot diagram on Walk Two Moons and will begin to type their book reports on Friday. Click the link below to test your context skills knowledge!

All math tutoring will be Wednesday at 8:35 am. Friday will be a House Cup day with concessions. In language arts this week, we will continue working on our argument project. Students will create 4 PowerPoint slides that include a claim, reasons and evidence. They will present their projects to the class. We will be working on science vocabulary words this week. Since we have early release on Wednesday, we will work on our vocabulary then. We will have our test next Wednesday. Our vocabulary words for this week will be sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous, intrusive and extrusive. On Friday, students will continue filling out their plot diagrams and begin typing their book reports. Scoliosis screening on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Math Tutoring - Wednesday morning. In Language Arts this week, we will continue working on our Argumentative/Debate project. Today, we read the article "Social Networking's Good and Bad Impacts on Kids" in our Springboard workbook. Tomorrow, we will watch a short video, complete the comprehension questions and begin working with our partners. On Thursday, students will be working with their partners on their powerpoint project which they will finish next Monday. On Friday, students will be working on setting up the plot diagram to write their book report on the novel, Walk Two Moons. This week we will be studying the social studies vocabulary words (Columbian Trade, Indigenous People, the horse, Triangular Trade and Treaty of Tordesillas) and their impact on Latin America. |
