Our PBIS celebration will be on Friday. They will be selling Menchies for $3. Remember to bring your money! We will take our Vocabulary Workshop quiz this Friday on the first 5 words in unit 2 - adverse, arid, assailant, billow and confront. Students will finish their LINCs tables and also create flashcards. Under the Resources tab, there are review activities for Vocabulary Workshop. If students bring in a note from someone at home stating that they studied every night, they will earn 2 PBIS point. We will pick up Unit 2 vocabulary the week we return from fall break. In language arts this week, we will be finishing up our story "The Circuit." Students will be answering comprehension questions, identifying internal and external conflicts and identifying the elements of literature. Today was our 3rd day in the computer lab working on our first book report. Not everyone completed their book report. They have all shared it with me, but if they would like to finish it over the weekend and reshare it with me, I will grade their updated report without a lose of points as long as they share it before Monday.
To log into Office 365 from home, you must go in through Cobb County School District website; parents; login to Office 365. Your user name will be the same one you use to log into office 365 at school, but your password will be the password you use to log into the computer at school. Thank you for turning in your homework during class! You are earning extra PBIS points for keeping up with our expectations for you. Monday and Tuesday - No School because of Hurricane Irma.
Remember that the school is collecting items for Hurricane Relief. Please bring in household items to donate. Some items to consider are shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, flip flops, water, brush, comb, chapstick, first aid items (bandages and Neosporin), wash cloths, underwear, sanitizer, soap, razor, lotion, deodorant, baby products (wipes and diapers), and feminine hygiene products. You might also consider donating pet food to relief organizations. This week in Language Arts, we will be working on our first book report that is due on Friday, September 15, 2017. We will be going to the computer lab every day this week to work on them. Please bring your book to Language Arts to refer to while writing your report. Homework: Wednesday - Irregular Plural Nouns Thursday - Collective Nouns Picture Day is on Wednesday, September 6th. Please send money in if you wish to purchase a picture package.
Progress reports will go home Wednesday, September 6th. Parents please ask your child to show you their progress reports. There will be a sheet attached you will need to sign and return indicating that you have seen their progress report. We will take our 2nd vocabulary workshop quiz on Friday, September 8th on words 11 - 20. Students can earn 2 PBIS points if they study their words for 10 minutes every night. Please just send in a note that they studied and they will earn their points. Review activities are on my blog under the Resources tab. Our 1st book report will be due on September 15th. We will work on their book reports in class next week. In language arts this week, we are continuing to read "The Circuit." We will be working on our discussion questions as we conduct the 2nd reading of our story. We will also be identifying internal and external conflicts in the story. Students were given the words 15 - 20 (libel, misgivings, oaf, recede, repast) from Vocabulary Workshop using the LINCS table. We will have our 2nd summative assessment on Friday over words 11 - 20.
