We are all preparing for parent/teacher conference next week. Don't forget that students will be dismissed at 2:15 all week. If you haven't signed up for a conference yet, you should have received an invitation in your email from your child's conferencing teacher. In reading this week, we are continuing to work with our two poems "If I was in Charge of the World" and "We Real Cool". Homework for this week: Wednesday - Pirates of the South China Sea, Thursday - The Beginning of Fountain Drinks. Friday, students will read about the Louisiana Purchase for our comprehension check. 7th grade language arts, we will continue to read about Lance Armstrong and his struggle to overcome cancer and his racing career. 8th grade language arts, we will continue to read "Raymond's Run". We will be making inferences, comparing and contrasting and reading for information. Homework this week: What road-trip would you take if you suddenly could? Brainstorm your ideas. You will need to brainstorm 5 different places. They can be anywhere in the world. Choose 3 of your favorite places and write a paragraph about each one. Tell us where you want to go, why you want to go there, and describe three things you would do while you were there. All three paragraphs are due on Friday.
