Activity: Review: Remember that subjects are nouns or pronouns that tell us who or what the sentence is about. The complete subject are all the words that are associated with the subject up to the predicate part of the sentence. The main subject is the noun or nouns the sentence is about. Predicates are verbs that tell us what the subject of the sentence did. The complete predicate are all the words that tell what, when and how the subject did the action. The main predicate is the actual verb in the complete predicate phrase. Adjectives are descriptive words that tell us which one, what kind or how many when describing nouns. Helping verbs come between the main verb and the subject. There are 23 helping verbs. Helping verbs help the main verb by adding information about time, and setting the mood or tone. Example: The little girl might have run up the hill. The complete subject is: the little girl The main subject is: girl (the noun) The complete predicate is: might have run up the hill The verb phrase is: might have run The main predicate is: run (the verb) The helping verbs are: might and have. The adjectives in this sentence are the and little. The is an article that tells us which girl. Today, you will be working on worksheet 25. You will be writing sentences with adjectives to describe a picture. Be sure to follow the sentence pattern given. Remember that S stands for subject and V stands for verb. So, if the pattern says SV, you would write a sentence with 1 subject and 1 verb. SSV would be 2 subjects and 1 verb; SSVV would be 2 or more subjects and 2 or more verbs. . 25a.png Everybody loves going to the fair! The rides, all the bright colors and the people. The sounds of people laughing, screaming and having a good time. The smells of cotton candy, and popcorn! Use worksheet 25a to write 5 sentences describing the fair! Remember to use adjectives to describe what you might see, hear, taste or smell. Be creative and enjoy! Submit your work either through the class notebook, through Office365 or take a picture and send it either through email or to my phone. 2nd and 3rd period 6th grade ELA Our virtual class will be meeting from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm Monday through Thursday.
